Nightlife

The city still buzzes with life once the sun goes down, with a variety of bars, nightclubs, live music venues and more!

Bars

Bewitching concoctions can be found at Elixir!

The elusive Flickering Light is a delightful curiosity, if you can find the secret entrance! Elegant gins can be found at Juniper Place  or if you’re prefer rum, their sister venue Old Havana is armed with a menu of over 50 varieties!

These are just some of the many brilliant bars to be found in the city centre.

Nightclubs

If you’re planning to dance the night away, there are plenty of nightclubs to tickle your fancy. For serious clubbers there’s Swansea’s premier nightclub Fiction , boasting a renowned roster of resident DJs as well as esteemed guests.

Bambu is another popular nightspot, this late-night beach bar hosts a mix of sounds and genres and has private karaoke booths and a heated outdoor Shisha terrace.

If you’re feeling a little more nostalgic, Popworld might be the place for you, dance away to the best hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s on an iconic light-up dancefloor.

Live Music

Swansea is home to a vibrant live music scene with venues like Sin City and Hangar 18 putting on shows every weekend of Drum & Bass, Folk, Rock, Alternative and more.

The Hyst on High Street is a mecca for local artists with its own TV and radio studio and dedicated performance spaces and the historic No Sign Wine Bar hosts plenty of performances in their renovated 1400s wine cellar, The Vault.

Swansea also hosts a booming and diverse street performance scene through the hugely successful From Busk Till Dawn scheme.

Something Different?

If you’re looking for a more unique experience, there’s a craft beer specialist Copper on Castle Street.

The Bucket List on Wind Street also offers a selection of unique craft beers and a member’s only area with pool tables, ping pong, pinball and retro arcade games or just across the street there’s Coyote Ugly Saloon with its infamous dancing waitresses and rodeo bull!

Purple Flag

The Purple Flag, a national award recognising a city’s vibrant and safe night-time economy, is now proudly flying in the city centre.

It is the new gold standard for entertainment and hospitality and equivalent to the prestigious Blue Flag for beaches. Swansea, the first city in Wales to achieve the prestigious accolade, achieved the award in February 2015, and it has been maintained ever since.

Swansea has accomplished a consistent increase in the number of people enjoying the variety of pubs, restaurants, cinemas and entertainment venues after dark whilst simultaneously benefitting from a steady drop in crime.

Take a look at our After Dark Map for help navigating the City Centre’s bustling nightlife scene.
