High Street was once the main shopping street in Swansea City Centre and previously formed the central axis of the shopping district.
Today, the stretch between Swansea Castle and the Railway Station is dominated by local retailers, a number of pubs, restaurants, cafe's and fast-food outlets. Situated north of High Street you will find Swansea railway station which has network links to major cities across the UK.
Over recent years, the street has become more residential, especially north of the railway station and the major projects being delivered by Coastal Housing. The Urban Village plan for High Street has benifitted from funding from the Welsh Government's Strategic Regeneration Area programme. This includes retail and office space, community resources, a childcare facility and potential for a creative space.
In relation to shopping opportunities you will find the well known Argos on the junction of College Street and High Street, as well as a number of independent traders such as Leisure Quest, Up & Running, Audio T, and much more.
